Slow Record Loading

Symptoms

Search results come back quickly, but opening a specific record - or every record on a given business object - takes a long time.

Cause

The delay is somewhere in rendering the record's form: an expensive relationship query, a costly tab or control expression, or a large form arrangement. Since search itself is fast, the cause is specific to that record's form rather than the database connection or search index.

Resolution

This isn't something you can fix on your end - it requires a change to the underlying form arrangement, expression, or relationship, which we handle. Use Record Load Timing to capture a diagnostic report and send it to your Synapse Software support channel. It pinpoints which part of the record's form is slow, which is what we need to trace the cause.

If you want to see what is slow across the whole system - not just one record - an administrator can watch the live Slow Operations dashboard. It lists the expressions, queries and form loads that are currently exceeding their thresholds, which is often enough to spot the pattern without a per-record report.
