Using Your Own Logo in the Cortex Header
Cortex shows its own wordmark at the top of the app. You can replace it with your organisation's logo from Admin → System Settings → Branding, so the logo survives Cortex upgrades instead of being overwritten by them.
Setting the logo
- Open Admin → System Settings and select the Branding tab (the tab is available to accounts with edit rights on System Settings).
- In Custom logo file, enter the full path to the logo image on the Cortex server, for example
D:\Branding\logo.png. Cortex servers read the file from disk, so the path must exist on the server itself, not on the PC you are browsing from. - Save the setting, then press Refresh preview to check the result. The Preview box shows the same image the header uses.
- Reload any Cortex page. The header reads the logo on every page load, so the new logo appears immediately - there is no cached copy to expire.
Leave the setting blank to go back to the Cortex wordmark.
Accepted files
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| File type | PNG, JPG, GIF, WEBP or BMP. Other formats are not accepted - including SVG, which is not supported for the logo. |
| Size | 5 MB maximum. |
| Access | The file must be readable by the account the Cortex server runs under. A file the service account cannot open is treated as unreadable even if you can open it yourself. |
| Location | A path on the Cortex server. The file is read from the path you configure, never from a path supplied by the browser. |
If the logo cannot be used
Cortex never shows a broken image in the header. When the configured logo cannot be served - the path is wrong, the file type is not accepted, the file is larger than 5 MB, or the file cannot be read - the header falls back to the shipped Cortex wordmark, and the Branding tab explains why with a message naming the reason. The failure is also logged with the configured path and the reason, so support can see what was attempted.
