Choose your installation method. If you're not sure which path fits your environment, contact Synapse Software support and we'll help you decide.
Download Cortex
All Cortex releases, including the Cortex Installer, are available at:
https://releases.synapsesoftware.com/
We strongly recommend using the installer unless you have a specific reason to do a fully manual deployment.
Recommended - Cortex Installer
The Cortex Installer automates the majority of the setup process for IIS deployments and is the easiest way to both install and upgrade Cortex.
The installer handles:
- IIS configuration
- Application Pool creation and configuration
- Required .NET settings
- File deployment
- Configuration preservation during upgrades

Manual Installation Options
If you prefer or require a manual deployment:
- IIS (Windows Server) - See: Install in IIS
- Docker / Containers - For Kubernetes or managed container services (Azure Container Apps, AWS ECS, etc.). See: Install using Docker
- Other platforms - Cortex is a .NET application. If neither IIS nor containers fit your environment, start here. See: Install on another platform
After installation
Once the application is running, continue with:
- Database Connections - configure connections to your source systems, either through the installer or in-app
