3.3.0 Release Notes

Cortex 3.3.0 expands embedded searches, improves migration workflows and ServiceNow performance, adds support for more database archives, and introduces new administration and diagnostic capabilities.

The Full Story​

Licensing​

A simpler subscription licensing model with improved license management and renewal notifications. The new format applies only to license keys issued starting November 2, 2026. Existing license keys are unaffected and retain their current perpetual-access behavior.

  • Expiration notifications: Administrators receive a reminder 30 days before expiration and a renewal notice with a direct link to Synapse if the license expires. These notifications apply only to new-format licenses.
  • License management: License details now display the hosting type (SaaS or On-Prem), and license codes are masked by default with a Show/Hide option.
  • Simplified renewals: Licensing and upgrade links now direct customers to the Synapse renewal request page.

Migrate Data​

Migrate Data is now faster, easier to configure, and better at handling migration failures, with ServiceNow added as a supported migration target. This feature remains available in the Archive edition.

  • Mapping and translations: Added conditional field translations, CSV-based lookups, manual value entry, and new date/time formatting options. Improved lookup handling makes it easier to verify values before migration.
  • Retries and error handling: Preview failed-record retries, including the API request and related items, before running them. New options support automatic retries, resending related items and attachments, and continuing past certain failures while recording warnings.
  • Performance and monitoring: Configure concurrent record processing (up to 10 records), view estimated completion times, and start background migrations without waiting for all records to load.
  • Migration targets: Added ServiceNow as a target, including requester and assignment mapping. Freshservice migrations now include attachment size validation and a compatibility check to identify potential issues before migration.
  • Access and administration: Migrate Data permissions are now managed through security groups, and existing background task mappings can be edited without accidentally starting another migration.

Search, Browse & Embed​

Expanded search and embedded view capabilities, making it easier to find, customize, and display archived data across supported sources.

  • Embedded searches: Embeds now support saved searches across multiple archive types, including ServiceNow, Cherwell, Freshservice, ManageEngine, Web Help Desk, Halo, and database archives. Added support for URL-based search prompts, ad hoc searches, and built-in searches for common scenarios.
  • Any Table Quick Search: Search across all supported tables in an archive without knowing where a record is stored. Results are grouped by table with match counts and pagination.
  • Search results and customization: Customize, reorder, and save result columns with archive searches. Results are now sorted by relevance by default unless another sort is selected.
  • Search and navigation: Improved Platform and database archive navigation, added Platform browsing and fallback search options, and fixed several search issues involving field selection, special characters, and record counts.
  • Expressions: Updated the expression editor with easier-to-read field tokens and individual modifiers that are preserved when expressions are saved or copied.

ServiceNow Archives​

ServiceNow archives now offer improved performance, reliability, and configuration, making it easier to manage large or complex environments.

  • Mirroring performance: Improved copying of large tables through batch processing, faster record and field rendering, and more reliable table paging to prevent incomplete or stalled mirrors.
  • Mirror planning and progress: Added estimated mirror duration and progress tracking based on the actual ServiceNow instance, along with improved handling of database row-size limitations.
  • Table selection and navigation: New filtering options make it easier to find relevant tables, including commonly used ITSM tables, tables containing data, and specific table groups. Improved support for ServiceNow table hierarchies and inherited fields.
  • Restricted environments: Added support for offline schema bundles, allowing mirroring when direct access to required ServiceNow schema information is restricted.
  • Troubleshooting and reliability: Improved connection testing, preserved error details when mirror jobs resume, and better handling of API errors, metadata copying, and attachment timeouts.

Freshservice, Jira, ManageEngine & Database Sources​

Expanded archive and migration capabilities across several data sources, with improved integrations, configuration, and troubleshooting.

Freshservice​

  • Migration improvements: Improved requester and agent mapping using email addresses, support for workspace-specific migrations, dependent fields, required-field overrides, and automatic date formatting.
  • Rich text and attachments: Improved preservation of HTML formatting and embedded images during migration, with clearer attachment handling and error reporting.
  • API diagnostics: Added rate-limit monitoring, API request testing, permission checks, and additional troubleshooting tools to help identify configuration and migration issues.

Jira Service Management Data Center​

  • Archive relationships, including comments, worklogs, history, and issue links, are now accessible through Quick View, the API, and MCP relationship endpoints. Updated archive labels for clarity.

ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus​

  • Added a configurable Attachment Root Directory with a connection test to verify access and improve troubleshooting of missing attachments.

Database Sources & Conversion​

  • Expanded database support: PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and SQLite can now be used as generic database archives in Cortex, with native browsing, navigation, and search capabilities. Previously, this was only available for Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Export and compatibility improvements: Added manifest-based CZ exports for supported databases, improved database table discovery, and enhanced row-size validation for SQL Server and PostgreSQL.

Cherwell Archives​

Cherwell archives now offer improved search, form rendering, and troubleshooting, making archived data easier to navigate and manage.

  • Search improvements: Access Cherwell saved searches directly in Cortex, use date-range filtering, and more easily identify business objects and fields with similar names.
  • Form rendering: Added support for Cherwell Group Box controls, preserving the layout and formatting of grouped fields in archived forms.
  • Database inspection and troubleshooting: Added database and localization details, along with a new User Mapping troubleshooter to help diagnose user login and mapping issues.
  • Stability and access: Improved handling of security-group mappings and misconfigured data sources, preventing errors that could affect archive access or other healthy Cherwell connections.

Diagnostics, Health & Background Jobs​

New monitoring and diagnostic tools to help administrators better understand system performance, troubleshoot issues, and manage background operations.

  • System health: Added an Archive Health dashboard, on-demand CPU benchmarking, and expanded database performance checks across all enabled data sources.
  • Slow-operation monitoring: Identify long-running searches, queries, expressions, and page loads, with configurable thresholds and monitoring settings.
  • API statistics: View API request volumes by data source and migration job to help monitor usage against vendor rate limits.
  • Background jobs: Run multiple jobs concurrently with configurable limits, and manage large jobs more efficiently with improved progress reporting, refresh settings, and clearer record details.
  • Database diagnostics: Added SQL Server performance diagnostics and improved mirror planning to identify data-format and database compatibility issues before running a mirror.

Administration, Security & Deployment​

Improvements to authentication, user management, and deployment, giving administrators more flexibility and control over their environments.

  • Authentication and access: Added Guest/Demo access alongside SAML authentication, expanded authentication configuration options in the web Administration UI, and improved handling of SAML settings.
  • User security: Administrators can now disable user accounts across all authentication methods, active sessions, and associated API keys. Installations without a configured authentication type now default to Internal authentication.
  • User administration: Added an option to assign a default Cortex security group to users who currently have none.
  • Installation improvements: Added minimum hardware requirement checks (2 CPU cores and 4 GB RAM) and improved installer navigation.
  • Branding and navigation: Administrators can now configure a custom logo through System Settings and hide selected Platform navigation items.
  • Security updates: Includes the Microsoft ASP.NET Core runtime security fixes previously delivered in Cortex 3.2.2, addressing CVE-2026-88092 and CVE-2026-70188.
