Install

Choose your installation type. If you're not sure which path is right for your environment, contact Synapse Software support and we'll help you pick the best option.

Download Cortex​

All Cortex releases, including the All-in-One Installer, are available at:

We strongly recommend using the installer unless you have a specific reason to perform a fully manual deployment.

Recommended: All-in-One Installer (Install & Upgrade)​

The Cortex Installer automates the majority of the setup process for IIS deployments and is the easiest way to both install and upgrade Cortex.

What the installer handles​

  • Configures IIS
  • Creates or configures the Application Pool
  • Applies required .NET settings
  • Copies installation files
  • Preserves your existing configuration during upgrades

Installation option (All-In-One Installer)​

Installation options (Manual Paths)​

If you prefer or require manual deployment:

  • IIS (Windows Server) - recommended for most customers and closest to a typical Cherwell-style deployment.
    See: Install in IIS

  • Docker / Containers - recommended if you want Kubernetes or a managed container service (Azure Container Apps, AWS ECS, etc.).

  • Other platforms - Cortex is a .NET application. If you have constraints that don't fit IIS or containers, start here for the knobs and requirements you'll need.
